BARBERVILLE, FL- Volusia Speedway Park returns to action this Saturday night, September 4th, with the Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Labor Day Late Model Shootout, plus further excitement from the Taylor Racing Products Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Modifieds, and the Amsoil Synthetic Lubricants Thunder Stocks. With two weeks spent away from the south's fastest half mile, the racers are more than ready to feel the rush of dirt slinging, high speed action as the 2010 racing season officially moves into fall.
And while the racers may be more than ready to take on each other and Volusia's high speed half mile, some may have a need to shake a few cobwebs loose and do some final tweaking on their machines before Saturday's events. Volusia Speedway Park will open for practice on this Friday, September 3rd, with hot laps by division from 6PM until 9PM, offering the racers that chance, plus giving them a shot at some seat time as well. |

BARBERVILLE, FL- As the summer heats up and the Florida rainy season kicks into overdrive, Volusia Speedway Park is taking a much needed break over the next couple of weeks. That time off will allow our racers to make repairs and adjustments to their machines in preparation for the last few weeks of the racing season, and will give our hard working staff some time to rest. That means that Volusia Speedway Park will be quiet and dark on August 21st as originally scheduled, and again on August 28th for an extra week of summer break. The racers will return to the track on Friday, September 3rd, for an open practice session from 6 through 9 PM, and racing will return the following night, Saturday, September 4th. |

Problems Plague Points Leaders at Volusia |

BARBERVILLE, FL- Scattered showers peppered many areas around Volusia Speedway Park throughout the afternoon on Saturday, but after a rainout the previous weekend the speedway managed to escape with a few near misses, but no actual rainfall until after dark. That opened the door for the Budweiser Modifieds to chase a $1000 cash carrot, and for fans to see action from the Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Late Models, the Taylor Racing Products Sportsman Division, the Amsoil Synthetic Lubricants Thunder Stocks, and the 4 Cylinder Challengers.
Unfortunately for the Volusia County kids who will find themselves back in classrooms on Monday morning, their chance to fulfill a need for speed was washed out by a pop up shower that hit the track right at intermission, and which sent the track staff scrambling to get the program moving as more showers loomed off to the west on radar. Those other showers fell apart before arriving at the track, thus allowing the feature races to run as scheduled, and as things played out many points leaders might have preferred that it continue to rain. |
